In January 2021, Mason Branstrator broke his back skiing, suffering an incomplete T12 fracture.
The accident left him with heavily limited mobility in his lower body.
This July Mason participated in the Timberman Triathlon completing a mile-long swim, 26-mile bike, and six-mile run. To complete the race Mason used an adaptive bike and a wheelchair.
Personal trainer Alex Barton carried Mason through the transition zones. Mason's sister, Sydney, helped him recover at the finish line.
